You should make sure that you consistently submit articles to article directories and you should also make sure that you’re submitting to more then just one article directory. The search engines prefer seeing links coming from different sites so the more article directories you submit to the better. Typically the best links come from the article directories that check all of their article submissions before approving them and you should only submit to these directories at first.

EzineArticles and GoArticles are two of the most popular article directories on the internet and these two should be the first two you sign-up with. Once you get familiar with how the submissions work you can then worry about joining other article directories. The hardest part of article marketing and keeping it consistent is writing the actual articles that you need to write. Many people believe they can’t write and then they develop writers block and just stare at the screen for hours when they could be making valuable content. All you need to do is write three hundred words per article to be able to submit them to most article directories, this means it should only take you thirty minutes maximum to write and submit one article. If it takes you this long then you’re a little slow but that’s fine as long as you’re happy with the article you’ve written.

Not getting traffic from your articles is fine because you’re still getting backlinks, but if you’re spending the time submitting articles you might as well try getting as much traffic as you can from your articles. You need to make sure you choose the keywords or tags wisely for every article you submit and you should also ensure you’re thinking of the catchiest title possible for your article. Many people will only click and read articles with a catchy title so make sure that your title is going to draw in the readers. The length of your article isn’t as important as the tags and titles so focus on doing those two things and submitting in quantity. Over time you’ll begin to notice a nice stream of traffic coming from the article submissions and then from there you’ll be able to focus on monetizing your traffic.
